Hello, this is Lars. IT Engineer. Certified (and enthusiastic) webmaster. Also an enthusiastic Windows, Apple, and Office user. I write about all kinds of topics around IT. Living in Switzerland. You can find out more about me here: About me. Thanks for your visit!

I seldom have to care about subnetting at work. Just to be honest, mostly
only in Microsoft Certication. Hmm, how was it again?

Here are my thought to build my Subnet-Table.

What you do have to know is that the 255.255.255.255.0 (/24) Subnet can have
254 hosts.

So know you write down

254    24

Leave space above it, so you can build your table. A 30 subet has 2 Hosts.

So your table looks like

Hosts Difference Subnet
2  30
   29
   28
   27
   26
   25
254 128 24
   23
   22
   21
   20
   19
   18

The first Difference from number of host to number of host is 4 and after
this it is doubling

Next step of the table

Hosts Difference Subnet
2  30
6 4 29
14 8 28
  16 27
   26
   25
254 128 24
   23
   22
   21
   20
   19

From this you should be able to fill up yout table

Hosts Difference Subnet
2  30
6 4 29
14 8 28
30 16 27
62 32 26
126 64 25
254 128 24
510 256 23
1022 512 22
2046 1024 21
4094 2048 20
8190 4096 19
16382 8192 18

And the rest should also be quite simple.

30 means 1 30 times: 11111111 1111111 11111111 11111100 = 252

29 means 1 29 times: 11111111 1111111 11111111 11111000 = 248

With the calculator that you could use in your certification exam, yous
should be able to complete your subnetting table

Hosts Difference Subnet
2  30 255.255.255.252
6 4 29 255.255.255.248
14 8 28 255.255.255.240
30 16 27 255.255.255.224
62 32 26 255.255.255.192
126 64 25 255.255.255.128
254 128 24 255.255.255.0
510 256 23 255.255.254.0
1022 512 22 255.255.252.0
2046 1024 21 255.255.248.0
4094 2048 20 255.255.240.0
8190 4096 19 255.255.224.0
16382 8192 18 255.255.192.0

Good luck.
